Adding and Subtracting Fractions

Hello, for the past few days I have been working on adding and subtracting fraction with equal denominators, though I did already kind of know how to add and subtract fractions before but now I know how to do it faster with efficiently and I can do with more of a chance of being correct.

This is how you add or subtract fractions; firstly when adding or subtracting fractions with the same lower number/denominator, you need to add or subtract the two top numbers, or numerators, together, while keeping the denominators the same. For example, 3/8 + 2/8 = 3+2 /8 = 5/8. What do people have to do, to do this?  Take the numerators and add them together while keeping the denominator the same. If it is an improper fraction you can convert it then that’s your answer.

Te wiki o te reo Maori

For the past few days I have been working on learning basic phrases and words in Maori, it has been quite fun and an easy exercise to practice my Maori pronunciation and expansion of my Maori dictionary. I had to create my own mini dictionary. I had to find a word that starts with the letters a to wh. I had to have a image and a self recording of the pronunciation but I couldn ´ t do that as my audio didn ´ t work. This had to be laid out like a dictionary. We also had to learn a bunch of colors and emotions. Now, before watching the slideshow, do you know what hiakai means in English? Tell me in the comments if you already knew!

Florence Nightingale

For the past few days I have been working on the characteristics of Florence Nightingale.

Florence Nightingale is someone we can look up to because of her perseverance, kindness and helpfulness, she actually received a divine calling from God to do good and help wounded soldiers in the war, she had to shave her head to not catch the lice from the soldiers. She was a nurse at a Middlesex Hospital and she contracted a disease called Brucellosis.

My Compliment Poster!

For the past few days we have been focusing on things we should say more often, we had to write down twenty nice things we should say more, then we had to choose our favourite one out of the twenty then make a poster about it, I actually did two but I´m going to focus on only one of the posters. (My first poster was about saying    ´ I quite like your hair today ´ but I did not like it.)  For my actual one I did ´____ is definitely your colour! ´ I think we need to say these things more often, like; you look nice today! Did you do something different with your hair? Your dress is nice! These types of things can make someone’s day better on both sides. I decided on a rainbow theme since the compliment was more about colors. I did quite like the final design, do you?

Converting Fractions!

Hello, today I will be turning these fractions into their simplest equivalent form. I will be trying to make fractions in their simplest forms, sometimes it can be easy but sometimes it can a little hard trying to find a common factor. Finding the simplest form of any fraction is a simple method. We need to simplify the numerator and denominator of the fraction by dividing both the numerator and denominator by the common factor. After dividing the numerator and the denominator they should remain whole numbers.

Elections

For the past week we have been learning about elections; here is what I learnt:                                                                Parties are different groups representing a different subject NZ actually has a LOT of different parties;                  they can represent over 72 electorates.                                                                                                                                There is a time period for voting for parties and politicians, all of the votes are counted twice for accuracy.             A Politician is person who is professionally involved in politics, especially as a holder of an elected office, they are a person active in party politics, or a person holding or seeking office in government.                                          . An Election is when every 3 years people from New Zealand vote for different parties and politicians. You get things called vote cards which are meant to help make voting easier. This year’s election is on Saturday 14th October 2023, you vote at the schools, library and public communities.
